Rate of color G.I. plain sheet gutter works per meter in Nepal

Overview

Gutter works

Let's have a basic idea of gutters and their scope.

A gutter is fundamentally a channel lined at the edge of the roof that catches rainwater and drops it to the ground through a drop-down channel of pipe or rain-chain. The rainwater falling directly from the roof hammers the top soil or sidewalks around the building and has a negative impact. Moreover, if your building has basements, gutters will be installed to avoid flooding in the basements. In modern days, you have various options and designs for gutter work that add beauty to the building. The gutter size ranges between 4 inches and 6 inches in Nepal. In most of the buildings, there is a practice of eaves boards (d'7n) in front of gutters in Nepali markets. We will have a separate blog on the Eaves board. In this blog, we are about to discuss rate analysis of color G.I. plain sheet gutter work. Gutters are normally installed on sloped roofs. You can check out our ASP roofing sheet work rate analysis in our previous blog: https://www.ieccc.com.np/2024/07/rate-analysis-of-ASP-roofing-sheets-per.html.

As our regular blog, we are taking references from codes of

  1. Kathmandu district rate: 80/81
  2. DUDBC norms

You can find the codes in our download section: https://www.ieccc.com.np/p/downloads.html.

Calculations

Calculations for rate analysis follow regular steps.

  • Material estimate and cost
  • Workers charge
  • Cost of tools and plants used
  • Contractor's overhead and profit

In DUDBC norms, specifications for 150mm to 450mm wide plain sheet gutter work are the same. We are taking a 10-meter gutter of 26-gauge color G.I. plain sheet of width 300 mm.

Materials estimate

To compensate for lapping and waste, the 10-meter gutter G.I. sheet requirement mentioned is 13.5 meters.

Color plain sheet (26 gauge): 13.5 meter

Bracket: 32 nos.

Nut-bolt with washer: 48 nos. (75mm self-tapping screw with clip)

Materials rate as specified in KTM district rate: 080/81

Color plain sheet (26 gauge): 13.5 meters at 174.25 = Rs. 2352.37

Bracket: 32 nos. at 21.15 = Rs. 676.80

Nut-bolt with washer: 48 nos. at 21 = Rs. 1008.00

Total material cost: 2352.37 + 676.80 + 1008.00 = Rs. 4037.17

Workers, as specified in the norms of  DUDBC

Skilled workers: 1.75 at 1200.00 = Rs. 2100

Unskilled workers: 2.00 at 900.00 = Rs. 1800

Total worker cost: 2100 + 1800 = Rs. 3900.00

Cost of hiring tools and plants:

Tools and plant: 3% of unskilled workers = 3% of 1800 = Rs. 54

Total cost: materials + workers + tools and plant

                  = 4037.17 + 3900.00 + 54

Total cost: Rs. 7991.17

Adding 15% overhead costs to the contractor

Contractor's overhead: 15% of 7991.17 = Rs. 1198.67

Total cost of color G.I. plain sheet gutter work per 10 meters: 7991.17 + 1198.67 = Rs. 9189.84

Total cost per meter of color G.I. plain sheet gutter work: 9189.84/10 = Rs. 918.98

Total cost per running foot of color G.I. plain sheet gutter work: 918.98/3.28 = Rs. 280.17

Summary of rate analysis

150 mm-450 mm wide Color G.I. Plain sheet rain gutter works, including iron brackets, nuts, bolts, and washers, are all complete.

Note

In the Nepali market, gutter fabrication is done on a per-foot basis. So if the G.I. plain sheet width used for fabrication is greater than 1 foot (300 mm), the charge of fabrication per running foot is taken as per the width or section of plain sheet. For example, if the G.I. plain sheet width for gutter fabrication is 1.5 feet (450 mm), the measurement of 1 running foot on site is taken as 1.5 feet.

The drop-down pipe from the gutter in general practice is pvc pipe, whose size and fittings depend on the building's design.

If you choose the plain gutter (without color) for the same specification as mentioned above, the price per meter decreases by 20% to 25%.
