Rate of rubble (stone) soling per m3 in Nepal.

Overview

Boulder Or Stone Soling Estimate

You can find complete information on the rate analysis of flat brick soling in our previous blog: https://www.ieccc.com.np/2024/06/rate-analysis-of-flat-brick-soling.html. In this blog, we are going to discuss the rate analysis of rubble soling per m3. In general practice in Nepal, stone soling with a thickness of 6 inches to 10 inches is done under footings, canals, drainage, and other structures to increase the bearing strength of the soil. For estimation and rate analysis, we are following the norms under

  1. District rate of KTM
  2. Norms specified by DUDBC

Regarding the norms, you can find them in our previous blog: https://www.ieccc.com.np/2024/06/cost-of-m20-grade-concrete-in-Nepal.html.

Analysis of rubble-soling work

To proceed, you need to have an idea of the compaction factor of stone soling. During the compaction process, either by mechanical means or manual, spraying of water, the stone soling quantity decreases by a certain amount as compared to the quantity of stone being used. To encounter this loss in quantity, we use a compaction factor of 20% for rate analysis.

Calculations

The calculation steps are similar to those in our other rate analysis blog. We are going to estimate the construction material, workers from the DUBDC code, the cost of hiring tools and plants at 3% of unskilled workers, and add 15% overhead to the contractor.

Material Estimate

For 1 cubic meter of stone soling, the quantity of stone required upon compaction is

Stone: 1 + 20% (compaction factor)

Stone: 1.2 cu.m.

Quarry stone as per district rate of Kathamandu: 079/80

Stone: 1.2 cu.m. at 2366.08 = 1.2 * 2366.08 = Rs. 2839.2

Material Cost = Rs. 2839.2

Workers number and rate as per DUDBC norms and Kathmandu district rate

Skilled Workers: 0 at 1185.00 = Rs. 0.00

Unskilled Workers: 1.5 at 870 = 1.5 * 870 = Rs. 1305

Workers cost per cubic meter = 0.00 + 1305 = Rs. 1305

Cost of hiring equipment's

Equipment hire cost = 3% of unskilled workers = 3% of 1305 = Rs. 39.15

Total Cost = Cost of Materials + Cost of Workers + Equipment Hire Cost

                   = 2839.20 + 1305 + 39.15

Total Cost: Rs. 4183.35

Adding 15% of the of the contractor's overhead cost

Contractor's overhead = 15% of total cost

                                         = 15% of 4183.35

Contractor's Overhead = Rs. 627.50

Total cost with overhead = 4183.35 + 627.50 = Rs. 4810.85

Summary of the cost estimate
